AUDIT SERVICES
Per ODDD Rules and Laws a compliance and quality assessment must be conducted at least once every three years for individuals receiving services from certified supported living providers. (5123: 2-6-07)
The nurse is contracted by the county board and the quality assessment review is completed in a format prescribed by the ODDD. The assessment tool used covers the following areas:
- Provider policy and procedures pertaining to medication administration in accordance with the MA curriculum, Universal Precautions, what to do in an emergency or urgent situation, transcription of medications to the MAR, unusual incident reporting, disposal of discontinued or expired medications, reporting medication errors, a back up plan in the event that certified personnel calls off and preparing medications for a LOA or community outing.
- Review of the Self Medication Assessment and provider compliance with the outcome of the assessment.
- Documentation and administration of medications including an observation of medication administration.
- Review of medication errors for the previous 12 months.
- Review of Health Related Activities as applicable.
- Staff training and certification.
A written summary and a copy of the audit is provided to the county board and to the provider after completion of the audit. The summary includes the provider’s strengths, deficiencies and any recommendations bases upon “best practice”.
